I've been trying to get on a trip to Haiti. I've applied at Hands On Disaster Response but haven't heard from them yet. The long-time political situation there, along with the recent earthquake, have put a drive in me to do something. Anything. This is another disaster where I sit here in my lucky situation with a computer and a skateboard and camera and an education and a beautiful wife and home and I feel blessed, and I feel compelled to do something to help these folks. But this time I've actually applied for a trip to go help, and I'm looking for more ways to get down there. Sooner the better. If you know of any good ways, or know someone who is going, please email me at mark _at_ skatepunk.net.

Larry Perkins apparently has been making a push to get back on his game lately, and he's been trying to get a boutique going, trying to get some new kicks from Nike via Theotis, and he's even reaching for the stars looking for a job at the KFC. Word on the street is that Nike's been paying attention. The only question is, when will we finally see him skate? Tampa boys have been holding out for a Tampa Pro appearance, but I'll believe it when I see it. Check the links to all three calls here.

Malto Loves Sushi

Sean Malto's first shoe comes out this season, and last night at Tenno Sushi in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo was the release party. Malto loves sushi, so that was the theme, and most of the crowd was decked out in one of Malto's favorite 4Star shirt and red and blue beanie. The all-stars in attendance were the crowd you'd expect, from Girl, etnies, 4 Star, Escapist in Kansas City, and the folks from Transworld all came up as well.

Santa Hits Tampa

I'm proud to have been a small part of Boards for Bros this past year, donating a whole bunch of super old TumYeto wheels and some old trucks. There are a ton of great causes within skateboarding that help people, and this is one of my favorites.

John Motta Up

This is one of the best things I've seen in a long time... I love skaters who look at spots like this and see totally random, different opportunities than most. John Motta. From the Skate Mental site.
