Punk Rock Articles!
I've been reading a bunch of articles from various sites on punk rock lately and I figure I'd put up some of my favorites and/or the most interesting ones here for you to enjoy.
Here's a cool, educational article on Muslim Punk from the New York Times.
This article on the Top Ten Punk Albums of All-Time definitely hits it on the head... I might swap the order around and switch a couple out. Lists are great, but is London Calling really the best punk album of all time? Is it even the Clash's best record?
I think it's pretty cool that someone is making a movie about the Ramones story, but somehow I can't dodge the feeling that it should be some dirty, punk rock, up-and-coming film director. Do they exist anymore? Instead it's going to be a Fox Seachlight flick. I'll probably still go see it.
This article is critiquing the critics and I especially like the line attributed to Maximum Rockn Roll about nothing in the world ever being punk enough.
Can you ever have enough comical conspiracy theories? The scary part about Who Killed Nancy? may be that the theory presented actually sounds plausible when positioned next to some of the other great rock conspiracy theories!
And finally, in the my-favorite-artist-from-the-great "Yo! Whatever Happened to Peace?"-news, prog-provoker Winston Smith is having a "retrospective" art show in Los Angeles that I will be attending. You can read some info about it here. Also very much worth checking out is the Winston Smith website. If you're not sure why Winston Smith art is listed in my "punk rock" article listings, you're either at the wrong site or just haven't figured out the good stuff yet.
