Sin Elgelja R.I.P.

I am sad to write that Sin Elgelja has passed away in Australia. Apparently his sister found him in bed and could not wake him up. Sin was a great skateboarder, a generous and funny man, and always a smiling face. He was the first team manager and a designer at Airwalk in the 1980's, he rode for Madrid for years, and was known for being "Vic" in a hilarious series of Airwalk ads featured in Poweredge Magazine. He later was a lead designer at Duffs. He is already missed.

Sin was a true homie. I'm so glad I was able to get to know him. He had the craziest ideas and would always leave you laughing or shacking your head with what just came out of his mouth. Really creative guy. Taught me a lot about shoes, life and skateboarding. I remember helping him on a number of projects. I think the last was with a piece for Sneaker Freaker. We spent hours scanning old Airwalk stuff that I remembered from when I was a kid. We reminisced on it all. He from his side of the business and me from my side as a kid/ consumer. I'll miss you homie!!

I am happy that our last time together was drinking copious volumes of TEQUILLA, and the people at the next table asking me to STFU. Lucky for us I was too drunk to argue, and we just cussed at each other in whispers. I was just thinking about you this weekend, my friend. I sure am gonna miss the FUCK outta you, and that nasty accent you had. I love ya, and you'll forever be in my heart. Tonite, is a tequilla nite, in your honor. Por Vida! Por Muerte!
