Danny Bearer, the first Skateboarding World Champion, died last night at age 59.

I'm old enough so that the magazines I first pawed through when I was a little kid were the SKateboarder Quarterly issues from the sixties that my older brother kept. Among these pages were Torger Johnson and Danny Bearer, and somewhere in there, or maybe in Surfer, I knew that he was a surfer too... Bearer was a ripping skater and a forefather to the main focus of my life... Sad to see him go. Here's an
