Found this great interview with Ian MacKaye on The Sound of Young America. As usual, great insight, very thoughtful responses, and great stories.

This interview from The Sound of Young America with Ian is an in-depth look at one of the men who helped shape the music and attitudes of this young skatepunk. Enjoy.

Four Part Ian MacKaye Interview

Ian MacKaye was interviewed for the VBS.tv series "Soft Focus" with Ian Svenonius, of the Makeup and Nation of Ulysses, and these are some of the best interviews I've seen of MacKaye, who always is interesting to me, and always does good interviews. However, perhaps because Ian and Ian are old friends/acquaintances, the lighter side of MacKaye comes out a little and he seems committed to spending the time on the interview (albeit with a somewhat hasty exit).

Great talk about the music industry, among other things, and well worth the time if you're a fan of underground music.

Ian MacKaye Interview Excerpt

Punk Planet has been a source of fairly consistent entertainment and education for me over the last 7 years or more, and they've recently compiled a book of their favorite 25 interviews. It's called "We Owe You Nothing; Punk Planet: The Collected Interviews." If you're into reading stuff from people like Noam Chomsky, Winston Smith, Jem Cohen, Ted Leo, Steve Albini, Henry Rollins and Black Flag, Thurston Moore, Jello Biafra, Los Crudos, and Ian MacKaye, then this book will give you some of the best interviews of these people that I've seen. Here's a completed unauthorized excerpt:
